Waqar Choudhury, a name widely accepted by the music fraternity and very much popular by the music lovers. He fell in love with music during his early childhood but never thought about releasing an album of his own. It is his passion for music, which lead him to the road to making first solo album.

He started singing when he was only 7. He had occasionally sung songs in different functions at the family level. He had occasional shows in the schools and public places. At that time, he also took part in the famous TV program Eso Gaan Shikhi.

The singer is the eldest son of Mrs Khurshida Choudhury and Mr Nasir Choudhury. He was born in Dhaka on April 30. Waqar Choudhury's son, Rawan Choudhury, is the only inspiration in his life and for his music as well. He likes guitar and wants to learn how to play it, especially when he sings. He completed BBA in Finance and Banking from Adelphi University and later on joined the family business. At present he is the Director of NASCOM Ltd and also the Sponsor Director of Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd.

Inspite of his busy business life, his love for music only grew with time. "Music is my passion… It's not my livelihood, but I want to be a real artiste for sake of art," says Waqar Choudhury,

He decided to release his album first in 2003. He just intended to test his voice and through that process he wanted to enjoy the company of the music pundits initially.

When the idea of composing songs first came up, he looked for someone as quality music director, who could really understand his needs, personal knacks and instincts. He had heard a lot about Bappa Majumder.

They then moved for a recording session and in October 2002, Waqar Choudhury recorded his first track "Saradin Sarakkhon" in Muzicman recording studio. He tried to make the tune like melo-rage. He arranged all his themes with certain depths which can reflect powerful lyrics.

"Tobe Cholo Amar Shathe" was released by Sangeeta on 8th July 2003. The album immediately won the heart of thousands and millions of music lovers of the country. He became an instant hit. This inspired him to think about making a music video with the songs.

Initially Shomi Kaiser inspired him to make music videos and under her direction he made two music videos and aired them before the release of the video album. The audience liked them very much and the album received a very positive feedback from the media. This inspired him to make the music videos for the rest of the album. But one thing he always kept in mind while making the music videos is that he never compromised with the quality. He used well established and respected professionals like Sohel Arman, Shomi Kaiser, Apon Ahsan, Shanta Islam and Tanveer Khan for the making of the videos. Because of the fact that 5 different directors were used in the album, every music video was different from the other. Picturization has been given careful consideration. Characterization has been an important part of the videos. Well-known actors and actresses like Sweety, Mahfuz, Joya Ahsan, Shams Sumon, Fima, Proma Aziz, Shoma, Kusum Shikder, Alif, Jona, Sajal etc. have been used to build the characters within the songs Visualization of the songs are made in such a manner that is in coherent with the lyrics and composition. The music video album was released on 28th May 2004 by Sangeeta. As expected the album was highly popular and appreciated for its quality making.

In characters of his liking, there are Bappa Mojumder, Manam Ahmed and Ali Akbar Rupu as music directors while Ferdaus and Mahmud Khurshid as lyricists.
His favourite songs include Tumi Amar Prothom Shakal (Shakila Zafar), Ei Nil Moni Har (Laki Akhand), Age Jadi Jantam (Ferdaus Wahid), Kabhi To Nazar Milao (Adnan Sami) and the likes.

A number of musical television programs, apart from his own music videos, have also been produced. These programs have featured in various TV channels including ATN Bangla, Channel I etc. His solo musical program which was aired for the Valentine Day's special program was highly appreciated by all.

His second solo audio album "Proshno Koro Na Amay" was released on 18th January 2005 under the banner of Soundtek. "Proshno Koro Na Amay" was quite different from his earlier album as it consisted of different variety of songs while his first album " Tobe Cholo Amar Shathe" was a melody based album.

Basically in his new album he has tried to rectify his earlier mistakes of his previous album. He has gone back to the root and started to learn from the basic- the classical background, art of singing, clarity of pronunciation. Keeping all these in mind, he had started to take lessons from the musical maestro Sanjit Dey. This is due to his desire to learn and his realization that classical background is vital.

These have all reflected in his second album. As he quotes" I have taken lesson from my previous mistakes and have tried to rectify them in "Prosno Koro Na Amay". It is up to the audience to judge but I believe I have tried to sing better and I have given my best shot and tried to make a quality album filled with touchy melody & lyrics. I tried to sing each song from the core of my heart"

He has worked with 4 different composers in his second album: Assiquzzaman Tulu, Bappa Majumder, Ebrar Tipu and Ferdous. This has helped him to produce an album of lot of variations. There are latin, reggae, pure Bengali, "Tewari Tal" and fast track songs. There is one particular song on Bangladesh which is one of its kinds because of its unique composition and touching lyrics.

Also a lot of credit also goes to Tipu Bhai, proprietor of Dream Desk for the valuable tips and showing Waqar Choudhury the art of singing in-front of a microphone.

While speaking about the present scenario of the music industry in the country, he admits that there is a very big market but unfortunately there is lack of professionalism in the industry. Piracy is also hurting the industry, artist and production houses. He pledged to the concerned Government Authorities that VAT surcharges should be imposed on sales of audio industry-cassettes, cds & vcds. By doing this Government can generate a lot of revenues and this will help to eliminate piracy to large extent. This will also boost the artists and production houses. In addition royalty system should also be implemented which will also benefit the artist. This will not only bring professionalism in the music industry but also establish transparency between artist and production houses that will help minimize misunderstanding between them if any.
